Weser School

We begin our tour in the extensive school grounds.  They provide ample space and conditions for play and learning for all ages.  Where possible the Key Stages use separate play areas during breaks. Each of the Key Stage 1 and 2 areas has a set of play equipment and some of the Year 5 & 6 children act as 'friends' during each break. The 'friends' scheme has been introduced to help communication across the broad age range of children in the school. Friends play games with the KS1 children and generally help the Teachers on duty.
The Key Stage 2 area is the larger play area and it acts as our outside games area during the better weather. There are also two large grassed areas which are used for games/sports.
A fantastic wooden adventure play area has recently been erected in the Key Stage 2 playground. The area has a Tartan all weather surface, which provides a safe environment for active play.
We also have a wild clearing in the school grounds which has been recently developed. The area includes a new pond which allows frogs and water species to flourish. The pond provides children with an informative outdoor learning experience.

On entering the school, you will be greeted by the school secretary  who is our first point of contact for all visitors.  A signing in system is in place to monitor visits and enable vetting of people entering the school premises.  The reception deals with all parental queries and school issues.

The school has Foundation Stage 1 and 2 units.  Foundation Stage 1 accepts children from the term that follows their third birthday.  Both Foundation 1 and 2 follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.  Foundation 1, our youngest children attend mornings only.  The children participte in snack and have full access to the schools learning environments.  Foundation 2 attend school for a full day, with an option to have school dinners.

Both Foundation Stage 1 and 2 units have their own playgrounds.  There are numerous activities they can partake in and there is an indoor play area also.  Both Foundation 1 and 2 have regular trips and days out in the local area.

The school has a large hall which is used for assemblies, P.E and school productions.  The hall contains a large electronic screen and projector.  This allows staff to show video, play music and access the internet for children and parents to see.
The school has a fully equipped iCT suite.  this is available to all classes in school.  Each class is timetabled for ICT.  The children are able to access the suite in their own time also.  The suite is supported by a permanent IT assistant.  We have a number of laptops to enhance flexibility and video conferencing facilities within school.  Each classroom has interactive boards and internet access.
